St. Augustine, FL, founded in 1565, is the nation’s “Oldest City.” Pedro Menendez de Aviles settled it 42 years before the Jamestown colonists arrived in Virginia which makes St. Augustine the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement on the North American continent.
